ABC stands up for hunting

On April 1, we began the roe deer season that excites good hunters so much, but, in addition, the sector was part of one of the most important newspapers in our country. ABC is a newspaper that has always left a place for hunting activity, either through a monthly supplement or with a digital section dedicated to hunting since 2019. But this 2024 has gone one step further, hunting activity occupied this month a double-page article, a small but at the same time big step in the dissemination of this activity and its normalization by the press.

As the protagonist of this article we have Doctor Javier Ceballos Aranda, director and founder of Avium, a great defender of hunting, conservation and good communication of this to new generations. It also stands out for its summer camp "Rediscovering hunting", a beautiful project in which children train and learn to be good future hunters.

At Young Wild Hunters we were able to interview Javier, who told us a little more about his intervention in this newspaper and about the camp that children can now register for this summer.

In contemporary society, hunting remains a controversial activity, sparking debates about its ethics, environmental impact, and cultural relevance. The media plays a crucial role in shaping perceptions and attitudes towards hunting. It is imperative that the media treat this issue objectively and in-depth, providing balanced information on both the positive and negative aspects of hunting, thus encouraging informed and constructive debate in society.

Additionally, at a time when environmental awareness is on the rise, the media has the opportunity to contribute to a greater understanding of hunting as a conservation, management and food tool. In summary, balanced and educational media coverage about hunting is essential to encourage learning in new generations and promote the generational renewal of “good hunting.”
